SUMMARY:Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico | Wake Up! Breakfast 2017
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to learn more about the success stories of our participants in the Wake up! Breakfast this December 7th at 7:30am. \nSome demographics of BGCPR impact: \n89% of the 15\,000 youth served are under the poverty level13 Centers across the island serving youth 6-18 years of age\, 6 are within public community housing developments working with the most at-risk youth on the island \n  \nKey results\n99% of participants graduate from high school 86% will continue to college \n \n\nOn Wednesday\, September 20th\, hurricane María hit Puerto Rico\, destroying properties and leaving our communities severely damaged\, without water\, electricity or communication\, as well as thousands of people searching for places to find food\, water and shelter. \nBoys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico runs 13 Club Houses across the island\, which are the second home for 15\,000 children and youth and 4\,000 families per year. Our Club Houses are located in economically challenged communities and 89% of the children and youth we serve live on households with income under the federal poverty level. In 2017\, that means $12\,060 for an individual or $24\,600 for a family of four. Many of our 13 Club Houses suffered substantial damage during the storm. With schools damaged or being used as shelters\, children in these communities are left without a safe place to receive much needed educational and support services\, adding stress to an already stressful young life. \nWe need your help to restore hope and return to delivering much needed support services to our youth and families. Join us by partnering in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico IMPACT FUND\, through which we commit to re-open one by one each of our Centers to service communities. We will be prepared\, when called upon\, to expand our hours as it is not known when Public Schools will re-open. We have identified Las Margaritas Club in Metro San Juan as our first Club to bring to full operations and have secured funds to buy a power generator to be able to run this club as a community service center. DESCRIPTION:WE NEED  YOUR HELP!  to fund an annual party on DECEMBER 31st for 100-200 kids in San Pedro de Macoris in Dominican Republic.  \nWe’re looking to raise $350 before 12/30/17 – anything will help! \n check out the gofundme page >> https://www.gofundme.com/sanpedrokids \nThis event is in jeopardy. \nCLICK >> VIDEO OF A PAST EVENT  \nEach year there is a party for really disadvantaged and poor children in San Pedro de Macoris in  Dominican Republic always thrown and funded by “El Camajan”. His vision was to invite all of the children in the area to celebrate a party on Dec 31st that has food\, gifts\, music and shows.  The children in the area look forward to this each and every year and for most it is their only gift and party for the holidays. \nHe passed away a few years ago and the family has continued to put on the party.  They want to continue to serve all the kids and invite everyone but may not have enough to do so\,   I want to help them fund some of the party and make this the most memorable experience and party for these kids.   The families all get together and make this a reality. \nThe money raised will be used to buy gifts\, food\, presentations and make the most memorable event for these kids.   Without our help\, this may not be possible this year ending a tradition and amazing thing for the kids. \n
