27 Sep Stepping-up for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria

Many of you know that I have deep roots in the Caribbean with many friends and family dealing with extreme challenges in Puerto Rico right now. The relief is coming but who knows how long it will take, some people have lost everything. Here’s what we’re doing to help and make an impact right now.
American Airlines has a wonderful program called OPERATION PUERTO RICO STRONG which allows employees to ship 2 boxes up to 150lbs each FREE to San Juan. Between now and Friday 9/29/17 at 3pm (must have the boxes at JFK AA cargo by 6PM Friday). We are collecting items to ship and hand-deliver them. Our friend is close to the Airport in San Juan and has committed to receiving and overseeing the distribution of the boxes to pre-determined people, families, or organizations. He has gathered others who will assist in the distribution as well. We are prioritizing these efforts to those in remote areas, children’s hospitals, churches, and nursing homes. You will see where your donations are going, we will film the recipients and share it.
We set up a very convenient drop-off point in a shopping center in Queens, NY close to highways with easy parking. The Keller Williams Real Estate office in Jackson Heights will receive any donations you can drop off. There’s a Rite Aid and Supermarket right there next door. I supervised the packing and delivery of the boxes to JFK. If you drop off a full box sealed and designated for the recipient, you must itemize the contents and provide complete delivery contact details.
There are many wonderful online websites to send money and help, however, the local people in PR can’t get anywhere, there’s no gas and the stores are empty. So this will get directly into their hands.
